APOEL and Panetolikos express interest in AEK Athens midfielder Hakim Sahabo
As the summer transfer window approaches its conclusion, APOEL Nicosia and Panetolikos have reportedly shown interest in acquiring AEK Athens midfielder Hakim Sahabo. Sahabo, a 21-year-old midfielder from Belgium representing Rwanda, joined the Greek club in February 2026. Reports vary slightly on his age, with one source identifying him as 21 and another as 23.
Sahabo is currently under contract with AEK until 2029, but he is not featured in the tactical plans of head coach Marko Nikolic. The player was originally signed from Standard Liege for a reported fee of 1.5 million euros but has struggled to gain significant playing time, recording only one appearance for the team last season.
While AEK Athens is not actively seeking to offload players, the club remains open to potential opportunities that may arise during the final stages of the transfer window. Currently, there is no confirmation regarding the progression of these interest reports into formal negotiations. It remains to be seen whether either club will make an official bid for the midfielder before the transfer window closes.
