Florin Tanase to join Omonia Nicosia

Romanian attacking midfielder Florin Tanase is set to join Cypriot champions Omonia Nicosia. The 31-year-old player is departing FCSB (Steaua Bucharest) as a free agent, utilizing a specific release clause in his contract that allowed him to exit at any time without a transfer fee. FCSB owner Gigi Becali confirmed the departure, stating that the player has already signed his new contract for a move to Cyprus.

Reports from Romanian media suggest that Tanase will earn approximately 60,000 euros per month at Omonia, effectively doubling the salary he received in Bucharest. This move follows a period of friction at FCSB, during which Tanase was excluded from training sessions. Tanase, a product of Gheorghe Hagi’s academy, has previously played for Al Jazira and is known for his versatility as both an attacking midfielder and a forward.

Omonia officials are finalizing the deal as the club continues to build its squad for the league phase. The player is expected to join the team immediately, marking a significant reinforcement for the Cypriot side's offensive line-up.
