Paris Saint-Germain implements digital detoxification for academy players

Paris Saint-Germain has announced a new "digital detoxification" initiative at its training campus in Poissy, aiming to reduce screen time among its youth academy players. Effective with the start of the new school year, the policy will specifically target approximately 140 residents, with the strictest measures applying to pre-academy players between the ages of 11 and 15.

Under these new rules, affected players will only be permitted to use their mobile phones for one hour per day, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., from Sunday evening through Friday afternoon. This privilege is conditional on maintaining clean and tidy rooms. During all other hours, devices will be stored in secure containers, a policy that will also extend to away team travel.

This initiative marks an expansion of the club’s existing protocols, which already required young players to surrender their phones at night. The club stated that while the measure may appear drastic, it is considered necessary to address the risks of mobile phone addiction for young athletes, promoting a healthier balance between digital life and real-world interactions.
