Team Hellas achieves multiple successes at Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games

The Greek delegation at the 20th Mediterranean Games in Taranto continued its successful campaign on August 28th and 29th with several notable podium finishes. Angelos Stylianos Sarantakis secured a bronze medal in the men's air rifle event with 227.4 points, while Tania Lamprianidou and Eleni Moutevelidou made history by winning bronze in the women's doubles badminton tournament. On the following day, Elisavet Teltsidou claimed gold in the women's +78kg judo category, and Panagiotis Bitados secured a gold medal in the men's individual triathlon with a finishing time of 53:47.

Team success extended to team sports, where the women's national handball team advanced after a 35-24 victory against Algeria. The men's national handball team also achieved a major milestone by defeating Portugal 32-30 in their semifinal match, securing their place in the tournament final. These results reflect a strong performance by the Greek athletes across various disciplines throughout the ongoing multi-sport event in Italy.
