Omonia and Pafos set to face off in Super Cup final
Omonia Nicosia and Pafos FC will compete for the 2026 Super Cup on Thursday, September 3, at the Alphamega Stadium in Limassol. The match is scheduled to begin at 19:30 and will mark the first time these two clubs meet in the history of the competition. Omonia, the record-holder with 17 titles, last won the trophy in 2021. In contrast, Pafos is aiming for its first-ever Super Cup victory after two previous unsuccessful attempts.
The Cyprus Football Association has appointed Ioannis Christodoulou as the head referee for the final, assisted by Pavlos Georgiou and Petros Petrou, with Andreas Tehrany serving as the VAR. Both clubs are coming into the game with significant focus; Omonia coach Henning Berg has confirmed the inclusion of new signings Tanase and Brouwers in the squad, while Pafos manager Ricardo Sa Pinto expects a tightly contested match between two high-quality sides. Omonia is looking to bounce back after a league draw, while Pafos enters the fixture following a successful start to their domestic campaign and progress in European competitions.
The event, which has been held since 1951, serves as the curtain-raiser for the new football season in Cyprus. The match will be broadcast exclusively on Alpha Cyprus and AlphaNews.Live, with Omonia TV also providing audio coverage.
