Cyprus Agency for Equal Distribution of Burdens manages property funds and student loans
The Central Agency for Equal Distribution of Burdens (KFIKB) in Cyprus has announced new measures regarding the management of approximately 90 million euros generated from a 0.4% fee on real estate sales. According to the agency's Deputy Director, Giorgos Sofokleous, these funds, intended to support owners of inaccessible or occupied properties, will be invested in 3 or 6-month time deposits within Cypriot banks. This strategy aims to ensure the security and growth of the funds allocated for property owners affected by the occupation.
In addition to the investment update, the agency confirmed the start of the student loan disbursement process for the 2026/2027 academic year, which commenced on August 1, 2026. By August 26, 2026, the agency had issued approximately 2.6 million euros in loans, matching the figure recorded for the same period in 2025. The deadline for processing student loan applications for the 2026/2027 academic year is set for January 31, 2027, marking the final stage for financial support distributions to students for this period.
