Road maintenance and construction works announced in Cyprus
Cypriot authorities have announced several temporary traffic disruptions due to ongoing road maintenance and construction projects across the island. On August 31, 2026, the Aradippou-Athienou road was closed for 15 minutes between 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. for cleaning operations.
Separately, the Department of Public Works has scheduled maintenance on the Nicosia-Limassol and Nicosia-Larnaca motorways from August 31 to September 3, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. These works involve replacing damaged barriers in central medians, leading to partial lane closures marked by safety signage and cones.
Additionally, the Department of Forestry is conducting watering activities on the embankments of the Larnaca-Paralimni, Larnaca-Kofinou, and Larnaca-Nicosia motorways. These operations are scheduled to occur on weekdays, Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., lasting until September 30, 2026. While these tasks require closing a portion of the road shoulder in 300-meter segments, officials note that normal traffic flow should not be significantly impacted. Motorists are advised to follow temporary signage and police instructions to ensure safety throughout these maintenance periods.
