Tree debris incidents cause road closures and vehicle damage in Nicosia
On the morning of August 31, 2026, Nicosia experienced two separate incidents involving falling trees that disrupted traffic and caused property damage. The first report, published at 06:47, noted that tree branches fell near the American Academy, completely blocking the roadway and necessitating intervention from municipal cleanup crews.
Shortly thereafter, a second incident occurred at approximately 09:00 on Michailaki Paridi Street, where a tree trunk collapsed onto a moving vehicle. Police and the Fire Service responded to the scene to assist in clearing the debris and conducting investigations. Although the vehicle sustained structural damage, the female driver was unharmed and exited the car safely.
