APOEL revives transfer deal for Czech midfielder Antonin Barak

APOEL Nicosia has resumed negotiations with 31-year-old Czech midfielder Antonin Barak, with the player expected to arrive in Cyprus to finalize his transfer. This development marks a significant U-turn for the club, which had officially announced the cancellation of the deal in June, just days after initially reaching an agreement. Barak, who has 44 caps and 11 goals for the Czech national team, arrives as a crucial reinforcement for the team's midfield following the departure of Diego Rosa.

The transfer is part of a broader recruitment effort by coach Nikos Papadopoulos, who is seeking to strengthen the squad's core. In addition to Barak, the club is moving forward with the acquisitions of 33-year-old Croatian goalkeeper Oliver Zelenika and Spanish central defender Alvaro Carrillo. Both players are already in Cyprus, with Zelenika participating in training sessions.

Despite these agreements, the formal registration of the new signings remains contingent on the club successfully lifting a current transfer embargo. Once this regulatory hurdle is cleared, the management plans to officially register all three players to make them available for upcoming league fixtures.
