APOEL revives transfer of Antonin Barak

Cypriot football club APOEL has reversed its previous decision and is set to complete the transfer of 31-year-old Czech midfielder Antonin Barak. The player is expected to arrive in Cyprus soon to finalize the formal requirements of his move to the club.

The development marks a significant turn of events following the club’s official announcement on June 24, which stated that a deal would not proceed despite a prior agreement with Fiorentina. The initial transfer process had stalled shortly after it was announced on June 22. APOEL sought to renew negotiations following their search for reinforcements in the midfield, a position that became a priority following the departure of Diego Rosa.

Barak, who holds a notable career record, has played extensively in Serie A, representing Udinese, Lecce, Hellas Verona, and Fiorentina. Additionally, he has earned 44 caps for the Czech national team and previously played for Slavia Prague. The deal is expected to be concluded in the coming days as both parties have resumed discussions.
