Kyriakos Kakouris appointed as advisor to Cyprus Minister of Finance

Kyriakos Kakouris has been appointed as a strategic advisor to the Cypriot Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, as announced on August 31, 2026. This appointment aims to leverage Kakouris's extensive background in international banking to support the ministry's financial objectives, specifically focusing on macroeconomic and fiscal stability, national resource management, and enhancing the competitiveness of the Cypriot economy.

Kakouris brings 33 years of experience in the Cypriot Ministry of Finance, where he previously served as a director. Notably, he also served as the Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) from 2023 to 2025, becoming the first Cypriot to hold that prestigious position. He communicated his new role via social media, expressing his commitment to utilizing his expertise to assist Minister Keravnos in navigating current and future financial challenges.
