Cyprus tourism revenue shows slight June increase despite half-year decline
Cyprus tourism revenue experienced a marginal increase of 0.2% in June 2026, reaching €423.1 million compared to €422.3 million in June 2025. This growth successfully ended a three-month streak of consecutive monthly declines. Additionally, the average per capita expenditure by tourists rose by 2%, amounting to €863.62 for the month. The United Kingdom remained the primary source market, accounting for 33% of total arrivals, followed by Israel at 16.4%.
Despite the positive performance in June, the overall outlook for the first half of 2026 remains negative. Revenue for the period from January to June totaled €1.221 billion, marking an 11.4% decrease compared to the €1.378 billion recorded during the same period in 2025. Furthermore, Eurostat reported that Cyprus faced the largest decline in tourism overnight stays among EU nations during the first six months of 2026, dropping by 7.7%. Currently, non-resident visitors continue to represent the vast majority of overnight stays in Cyprus, accounting for 92.6% of the total, the second-highest proportion within the European Union after Malta.
