Rialto Theatre to host Lux_kill digital installation by Souzana Fialas
The Rialto Theatre in Cyprus is set to host a new site-specific digital installation titled LUX_KILL, created by artist and performer Souzana Fialas. The project was developed as part of the theatre's 2026 Associate Artist in Residence program and will be open to the public from September 4 to September 6, 2026, with an opening event scheduled for September 4 at 19:00. Admission to the exhibition is free for all attendees.
The installation is located in the theatre’s basement area, moving away from traditional seating to provide an raw, interactive environment. The setup features three disassembled screens displaying an algorithmic body that reacts to visitors in real time. As guests move through the space, their physical presence interacts with the local network, causing visual distortions and disruptions in the projected images. This design ensures that viewers are not passive observers but active components of the performance. The work serves as an exploration of how a human body becomes part of a digital system and its inherent malfunctions, following a creative process of testing and development during Fialas' residency.
