Twenty-seven people rescued from rollercoaster in Suffolk theme park

On Monday, August 31, 2026, 27 people were rescued from the 'Wipeout' rollercoaster at the Pleasurewood Hills theme park in Lowestoft, Suffolk. The ride suffered a mechanical failure shortly before 13:30, leaving the passengers stranded approximately 15 meters above the ground for over two hours.

The Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service launched an extensive operation to retrieve the stranded visitors, which included children. Responders from three fire stations utilized specialized equipment to reach the ride. Although the carriages remained in an upright position rather than inverted, the altitude and duration of the entrapment necessitated a careful rescue effort. The operation concluded successfully at 16:05, with all 27 passengers safely removed from the structure.

While the park has not yet released a detailed report regarding the cause of the technical fault, the swift coordination of emergency services ensured no injuries were reported during the incident.
