USA: 12-year prison sentence for 45-year-old teacher for the rape of a 15-year-old student

A 45-year-old former teacher, Alison Havemann-Nidrach, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in New Jersey for the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old student. The victim testified that the six-month relationship was a nightmare and revealed he had contemplated suicide. Despite the abuse, the victim expressed forgiveness in court, causing the defendant to break down in tears. Havemann-Nidrach, who admitted to sending 25,000 messages to the student, must serve at least 85% of her sentence and has lost her teaching credentials.
