Germany blames Russia for failed drone attack at Leipzig airport

Reports indicate the device failed to detonate due to a faulty trigger, while investigators are also examining a potential collision between a second drone and a transport aircraft in the vicinity.

In response to what Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described as a pattern of Russian hybrid operations against Europe, Berlin has announced severe diplomatic retaliatory measures. These include the closure of the Russian consulate in Bonn and the 'Russian House' cultural center in Berlin. Foreign Minister Joe Vadephul confirmed that the Russian ambassador has been summoned to provide explanations, as German authorities assess that the country remains a target for further hybrid interference. Moscow has consistently denied any involvement in the incident. The German government remains committed to continuing its support for Ukraine, maintaining a firm stance in the face of escalating regional tensions.
