Panathinaikos in advanced negotiations to sign Azzedine Ounahi from Girona

Panathinaikos is currently in advanced negotiations with Girona to acquire Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi. As the Greek transfer market remains open despite the closure of the window in Spain, the Greek club has intensified efforts to finalize the deal. While reports from Spanish journalist Nil Sola initially indicated that Girona had rejected earlier, lower bids from the Athenian side, newer reports from El Chiringuito TV suggest the two clubs are now close to an agreement for a transfer fee of 16 million euros plus bonuses.

The proposed deal for the 26-year-old player is described as potentially the most significant in the history of Panathinaikos. If finalized, the four-year contract would offer Ounahi approximately 3.6 million euros annually, making him the highest-paid player in the club's roster. Although conflicting reports emerged early in the week regarding the status of the agreement, the latest indications point toward a successful conclusion as the Greek club attempts to strengthen its squad before the deadline.
