Japanese man arrested for mass killing of hamsters in hotel

A 36-year-old school employee from northern Japan was arrested on Monday for the mass killing of approximately 30 hamsters. The incident occurred in late March at a love hotel where the suspect, assisted by a 20-year-old woman, carried out the acts for entertainment. Local police chief Hiroyuki Nasu confirmed that evidence recovered from the suspect's seized phone included videos of the killings and text messages documenting the planning of the events, with one message asking where they could kill hamsters and have fun.

This arrest marks the second time the suspect has faced charges regarding animal cruelty. He was previously detained in July for the killing of 20 additional hamsters in February with the help of a 19-year-old accomplice. The ongoing investigation highlights a recurring pattern of behavior involving the suspect and various young women. Authorities are currently processing the digital evidence as part of the case against the individuals involved.
