Cyprus unemployment rate rises to 3.9 percent in July 2026

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Cyprus increased to 3.9% in July 2026, according to data released by Eurostat. This figure represents a slight rise from the 3.8% recorded in June 2026, though it remains lower than the 4.3% reported in July 2025. The total number of unemployed individuals on the island is estimated at 21,000 for July, up from 20,000 in June but down from 23,000 in the same month last year.

The gender breakdown reveals that the male unemployment rate rose to 3.7% in July from 3.6% in June, while the female unemployment rate increased to 4.2% from 4.0%. For context, these figures compare to 4.1% for men and 4.7% for women in July 2025. Eurostat did not provide specific data regarding youth unemployment (under 25 years old) for July 2026; however, previous data for June 2026 showed a youth unemployment rate of 11.9%.

On a broader scale, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the European Union as a whole remained stable at 6.1% in July 2026, consistent with the previous month. This reflects a slight year-on-year increase from 6.0% recorded in July 2025.
