Omonia completes key squad changes with transfers to Netherlands and Greece
Omonia Nicosia has officially confirmed significant roster adjustments in early September 2026. The club finalized the transfer of 26-year-old Cypriot defender Nikolas Panagiotou to the Dutch club FC Utrecht on a three-year contract, with an option for an additional season. Panagiotou, who had been with Omonia since 2019, recorded 180 appearances and contributed to multiple league titles and European qualification campaigns. Simultaneously, Omonia strengthened its midfield by signing 28-year-old Dutch player Luuk Brouwers from SC Heerenveen on a 2+1 year deal.
Furthermore, long-standing Omonia captain Ioannis Kousoulos has officially departed the club after eight years to continue his career in Greece with Kifisia. Kousoulos, aged 30, expressed his gratitude to the Omonia management, coaching staff, and fans in a formal farewell, reflecting on the numerous titles and European experiences shared during his tenure. These departures and the new arrival of Brouwers mark a major transition phase for Omonia as the team recalibrates its squad for future domestic and international competitions.
