Serious road accidents reported in Limassol and Paphos
A 19-year-old motorcyclist is in serious condition following a crash that occurred around 1:00 AM on Wednesday on Nikaia Avenue in Limassol. The rider lost control near the Ypsonas roundabout, collided with a road sign, and sustained multiple fractures and pulmonary contusions. Following the accident, the motorcycle was removed from the scene by unknown persons, and authorities are currently investigating both the crash and the disappearance of the vehicle. Medical staff have issued an urgent appeal for blood donations for the victim, who tested negative for alcohol.
Separately, a major traffic incident occurred on the Limassol-Paphos motorway near the Episkopi exit, past the tunnel. Authorities, including the Sovereign Base Areas (SBA) Police and the Cyprus Police, temporarily closed the road in the direction of Paphos to manage the incident. Traffic was diverted via the old Limassol-Paphos road through Kantou and Erimi exits. Additionally, another accident was reported in Paphos where a vehicle reportedly struck a traffic officer, though the officer’s condition is not considered life-threatening.
