Recent vehicle fires reported in Larnaca and Nicosia
Two separate vehicle fire incidents occurred in Cyprus within a 24-hour period. On Tuesday, September 1, a fire broke out in a moving vehicle on the Larnaca airport highway, approximately 250 meters before the Kalo Chorio roundabout. The Fire Service responded promptly, extinguishing the blaze. Police reported that the incident caused a temporary closure of both lanes heading toward Rizoelia, though the right lane was subsequently reopened for traffic. The causes of this fire remain under investigation.
Following this incident, a second vehicle fire occurred on the morning of Wednesday, September 2, outside the Apollonion Hospital in Nicosia. The Fire Service was deployed to the scene to manage the situation. As of now, authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding both incidents. No injuries were reported, and officials have not yet released definitive findings regarding the ignition sources for either vehicle.
