Theodosia Yamouki wins bronze at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto

Cypriot athlete Theodosia Yamouki secured the bronze medal in the +68kg Kumite karate category at the 20th Mediterranean Games, currently being held in Taranto, Italy. Her victory marks a significant milestone for the Cypriot delegation, as this achievement brings their total medal count to 15 at the 2026 games.

This performance establishes a new national record for Cyprus, surpassing the previous best of 14 medals set during the 2022 Mediterranean Games in Oran. The historic feat was officially confirmed by the Cyprus Olympic Committee. Meanwhile, fellow Cypriot athlete Loizos Vasiliou also competed in the -84kg Kumite event but missed a medal after being defeated 8-0 by Egyptian competitor Y. Badawy in the bronze medal match.
