Cyprus holds meeting to address rising attacks on food delivery drivers

On Wednesday, the Cypriot Minister of Justice and Public Order, Costas Fytiris, convened a meeting with representatives from food delivery and ordering platforms. The session was prompted by a recent wave of physical attacks directed against delivery drivers in the country. Participants included the Assistant Chief of Police responsible for the prevention and suppression of crime, alongside other senior police officials.

During the meeting, stakeholders exchanged views on the security challenges faced by workers. The ministry confirmed that current police prevention measures were reviewed, and new proposals were submitted to enhance the safety of personnel. The core outcome of the discussions was a commitment to strengthen operational cooperation, improve the speed of intelligence sharing between private companies and law enforcement, and coordinate preventive actions. The ministry stated that the primary objective is to create a more secure working environment through systematic collaboration and proactive security measures.
