Weather forecast for Cyprus: heatwave followed by rain and storms
A seasonal low-pressure system is currently affecting the region, with the weather expected to be mainly clear tonight, though low cloud cover may form along the coast. Temperatures tonight will drop to 21 degrees Celsius in the interior, 23 degrees on the coast, and 17 degrees in the higher mountains. Winds will be weak, blowing primarily from the northwest to northeast at 3 Beaufort, with calm to slightly turbulent seas.
On Wednesday, the weather will remain mostly clear initially, but clouds will develop as the day progresses, bringing isolated rains or storms, particularly in the mountainous regions. Temperatures will rise significantly, reaching 39 degrees in the interior, 32-34 degrees along the coasts, and 28 degrees in the higher mountains. Winds will shift to southwest-northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Looking ahead to Friday and Saturday, the Meteorological Service forecasts further rains and storms accompanied by a slight drop in temperatures. A minor rise in temperatures is expected to follow on Sunday, as the region experiences fluctuating weather conditions under the influence of seasonal low pressure.
