Weather forecast indicates temporary instability before return to heat

Cyprus is currently under the influence of a seasonal low-pressure system, which has been bringing mixed weather conditions across the island. Throughout September 5, afternoon cloud development over mountainous and inland regions is expected to produce isolated rain and thunderstorms, with a possibility of hail. Winds are shifting from light and variable to southwesterly or northwesterly, reaching up to 5 Beaufort on some coasts, while the sea remains generally calm to slight.

Temperatures are peaking at approximately 35°C inland, 30°C to 32°C in coastal areas, and 25°C in the higher mountains. Following the dissipation of morning mist and low cloud cover, the weather is expected to stabilize over the coming days. According to the Department of Meteorology and official statements, the unstable air mass is moving away starting Sunday, September 6.

Looking ahead, the weather will turn mostly clear, with temperatures projected to rise gradually through Monday. Meteorologists anticipate a return to above-seasonal average temperatures, potentially reaching 37°C inland early next week before a slight decline occurs on Tuesday.
