Ratko Mladic's family alleges medical negligence caused his death

Ratko Mladic, the former commander of the Bosnian Serb forces, has died in the Hague prison hospital, sparking a confrontation between his family and authorities. His son, Darko Mladic, held a press conference asserting that his father did not die of natural causes, but was instead murdered through medical negligence and the administration of incorrect, high-dosage medication that worsened his health condition.

The family has announced that the funeral will take place this coming Monday afternoon. Prior to the ceremony, the remains of the late general will lie in state at the Church of Saint Luke on Monday morning. The family has requested that supporters attend the funeral with dignity and respect. Local police estimate that tens of thousands of citizens may attend the service, with members of the government of Serbia and the political leadership of the Republika Srpska expected to be present. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has indicated he will not attend due to unspecified state duties.
