Nicosia police conduct series of arrests for theft, narcotics and traffic violations

Cypriot police have carried out extensive operations across Nicosia and the country to improve public safety, resulting in numerous arrests for various criminal activities. A 42-year-old man was arrested in Nicosia for driving a vehicle reported stolen from the Famagusta district on August 27, which was also fitted with stolen license plates. Small quantities of cannabis were found inside the vehicle, and the suspect remains in custody. In a separate case, two men aged 41 and 44 were detained following a burglary of a house in Nicosia where items including paintings, silver, and furniture worth over 10,000 euros were stolen. The 41-year-old was remanded for eight days, while the 44-year-old received a five-day remand order.

Furthermore, nationwide police patrols over the weekend led to hundreds of traffic fines, including 150 speeding violations, and the seizure of several vehicles. Authorities also arrested 41 individuals for illegal residency in the Republic of Cyprus, with 25 transferred to holding facilities. Investigations by local stations, including the Anti-Drugs Unit, are ongoing to process the gathered evidence and determine further legal actions.
