Police conduct wide-ranging enforcement operations across Cyprus

Cypriot police have recently launched a series of intensive, island-wide operations focused on preventing serious crime and maintaining public order. These efforts have led to numerous arrests, including the detention of a 42-year-old man in Nicosia who was caught driving a stolen vehicle with stolen license plates and carrying a small quantity of cannabis. Additionally, two suspects aged 41 and 44 have been arrested in connection with a major burglary in Nicosia, where items including paintings, silverware, and furniture valued at over 10,000 euros were stolen in August.

The enforcement actions involved extensive vehicle and person checks at key urban locations. In recent operations, police intercepted 783 vehicles, checked 1,025 individuals, and inspected 65 premises, resulting in multiple citations for traffic violations, drug possession, and other criminal offenses. Furthermore, authorities successfully apprehended a 45-year-old man who had been wanted since August 25 for charges related to threats, assault, and malicious damage committed in July.

Police continue to maintain a visible presence through organized patrols and targeted check-points. Investigations remain ongoing for the various cases, with suspects being held in custody for interrogation. Officials have emphasized that these preventive patrols and security measures are expected to continue on a daily basis to strengthen public safety.
