Recent law enforcement operations in Nicosia and across Cyprus

Cypriot police have conducted intensive operations across the country following a series of burglaries and criminal activities in the Nicosia district. In early September 2026, authorities arrested two individuals, aged 41 and 44, for the burglary of a private residence, where items valued at over €10,000 were stolen. Additionally, nine businesses in the Pera Chorio Nisou and Agia Varvara areas, including pharmacies and shops, were burglarized in a single night, with approximately €5,900 stolen. Three cash registers were later found destroyed in local areas.

Simultaneously, nationwide police patrols have resulted in multiple arrests for various offenses, including drug possession and illegal residency. During recent overnight operations, police checked hundreds of vehicles and individuals, issuing hundreds of traffic tickets for speeding and other violations, and impounding several vehicles. Investigations into these criminal cases remain ongoing as authorities continue to enforce public order. In a separate development, a 45-year-old man previously wanted for threats and malicious damage since July 8 was successfully located and arrested by police.
