Three arrested in Nicosia following a high-speed vehicle pursuit

On Friday, September 4, 2026, police officers patrolling near Ledra Street in Nicosia arrested three foreign nationals following a vehicle pursuit. The incident began shortly after 17:00 when officers on motorcycles spotted a suspicious vehicle lacking registration plates and signaled the driver to stop. The suspects refused to comply, leading to a chase through the area.

During the pursuit, one passenger attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended, while the driver allegedly tried to ram the police patrol vehicle. The third suspect remained inside the car throughout the confrontation. Once the vehicle was secured, police confirmed it had been reported stolen. Authorities discovered burglary tools and additional stolen license plates inside the car.

Following their arrest, the three individuals were transported to the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) for further questioning and processing. The case remains under active investigation as authorities examine the evidence collected from the suspects and the stolen vehicle.
