Three arrested in Nicosia following high-speed police chase

On Friday, September 4, 2026, police officers patrolling the Ledra Street area in Nicosia apprehended three foreign nationals following a pursuit. The incident began shortly after 17:00 when officers on motorcycles spotted a vehicle behaving suspiciously and lacking license plates. When signaled to stop, the driver refused to comply and attempted to ram a police patrol vehicle. During the ensuing chase, one of the three passengers attempted to flee on foot but was quickly captured, while the other two remained within or near the vehicle.

Upon investigation, authorities discovered that the car had been reported stolen. Furthermore, officers recovered various burglary tools and additional stolen license plates from inside the vehicle. All three suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) for further questioning and formal processing. The investigation into the suspects' involvement in other criminal activities is ongoing as police continue to analyze the seized evidence.
