Recent traffic accidents reported across Cyprus

Over the past 48 hours, several traffic accidents have occurred across Cyprus. On September 4, a three-vehicle collision took place on the Nicosia-Larnaca highway near Athienou-Kosihi. The incident began when a vehicle with a mechanical failure parked in the emergency lane, leading to a chain-reaction crash involving two other cars. Two women were injured and transported to the hospital; the highway was briefly closed but has since reopened.

Separately, in the early hours of September 5, a serious collision occurred on Nikis Avenue in Nicosia. A 79-year-old man driving his car collided with a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old, which subsequently struck a parked car. The 79-year-old was rushed to Nicosia General Hospital, where he remains intubated in the intensive care unit in critical condition. Additionally, a vehicle veered off the road and overturned in the Peyia area on Saturday evening, causing significant material damage, though reports on casualties remain unclear. Traffic police in all respective jurisdictions are continuing investigations into the circumstances of these incidents.
