Investigation into the death of an infant found in a Kypseli apartment

Authorities are investigating the death of a nine-month-old infant whose body was discovered inside a suitcase in a rented apartment in the Kypseli neighborhood of Athens. Forensic evidence revealed three fatal stab wounds and additional post-mortem injuries. The parents, who have admitted to struggling with substance abuse, claimed the infant suffered from chronic health issues, including hernia and intestinal problems, and experienced severe distress since birth.

The investigation has expanded to include the couple's three other children. A 15-year-old pregnant daughter is currently hospitalized in a psychiatric clinic, while a 12-year-old son is receiving care at a children's hospital in Athens. Prosecutors have ordered that these children, along with another nine-year-old boy, undergo further evaluation by child psychologists. The authorities believe the siblings possess critical information regarding the circumstances of the infant's death that was not disclosed during initial questioning. Access to the minors is strictly restricted to medical and psychological staff under prosecutor orders.
