Police seize nitrous oxide and cocaine in Ayia Napa raids

On the night of September 4, 2026, members of the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN), supported by the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (MMAD), conducted a series of coordinated raids on seven establishments in the Famagusta district, including several nightclubs and a kiosk.

During these searches, authorities seized 719 nitrous oxide (laughing gas) canisters and three larger containers from three different premises. In a separate location, officers discovered and confiscated a small quantity of cocaine. No specific arrests were immediately reported as a result of the operation.

The investigation into these offenses is currently being handled by the Ayia Napa Police Station in cooperation with the Famagusta branch of the YKAN. Law enforcement authorities continue to monitor nightlife venues in the region to address the illegal distribution of prohibited substances.
