Police seize laughing gas and cocaine in Famagusta district operations
On the night of Friday, September 4, 2026, the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN), assisted by the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad (MMAD), conducted a coordinated operation across seven premises in the Famagusta district, including night clubs and a kiosk.
During the inspections, authorities seized a total of 719 ampoules and three canisters of nitrous oxide, commonly known as "laughing gas," from three of the establishments. Additionally, a small quantity of cocaine was discovered and confiscated at a fourth location.
The operation is part of an ongoing effort to combat illegal substances in the region. The Ayia Napa Police Station, in collaboration with the YKAN Famagusta provincial branch, has launched an investigation into the findings to determine legal accountability for the detected offenses.
