Recent wildfires in Paphos and Nicosia districts

Several wildfires were reported across Cyprus between September 5 and 7, 2026. On September 5, a fire broke out at 18:20 in the 'Mersinoudia' area of Androlykou, Paphos, and was fully contained by 18:35 by four forestry workers using one vehicle. On September 6, a separate fire occurred near the village of Meniko, Nicosia, involving dry grass and stubble, which was brought under control by fire services from Nicosia stations with three vehicles.

On the morning of September 7, a wildfire was detected at 09:30 by a fire lookout post in Argaka, Paphos. The blaze affected approximately 0.5 decares of state forest land. Forestry department units arrived within four minutes, successfully containing the fire before it spread, rendering the planned deployment of aerial assets unnecessary. Authorities are currently investigating the causes of these incidents, with monitoring ongoing to prevent potential reignition.
