Limassol updates road infrastructure and plans new traffic relief projects

The Municipality of Limassol has completed a major two-year infrastructure upgrade program, investing 21.5 million euros to improve 108.9 kilometers of roads and 81 kilometers of sidewalks between July 2024 and June 2026. The project, aimed at enhancing safety and urban functionality, included extensive asphalt paving and maintenance of both primary and secondary road networks, with significant progress made in 2025 and 2026.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transport Evi Tsolaki conducted an on-site visit to Agia Fyla to address the city's ongoing traffic congestion. During the visit, attended by the Mayor and local officials, the Minister announced the commencement of the Idomeneos road extension project. Financing for this infrastructure project has already been secured, and the government is preparing to issue tenders for the construction work. The project is expected to begin in January 2027, with an estimated completion timeline of three to four months. Officials emphasize that this development is a critical step toward reducing traffic pressure from the northern areas toward the local roundabout.
