Israel's National Security Council updates global travel risk assessment

On Sunday, Israel's National Security Council released a new travel risk assessment ahead of the upcoming Jewish New Year and high holidays. Cyprus, along with Greece, the United States, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates, remains classified as a low-risk destination without special travel warnings, cementing its status as a preferred travel spot for Israelis.

While existing travel advice remains unchanged, the Council emphasized the need for increased vigilance. The assessment maintains that the highest threat levels are in countries bordering or in the periphery of Iran, specifically naming Turkey, Azerbaijan, and the United Arab Emirates. Level 4 warnings, which advise against all travel, remain in place for Jordan, Qatar, Somaliland, and Egypt, including the Sinai Peninsula.

Travelers are advised to maintain a low profile by avoiding the display of Jewish or Israeli symbols and refraining from posting real-time location updates on social media. Individuals who have served in the Israeli armed forces are specifically urged to remove or conceal service-related information online. Additionally, Israelis are cautioned to avoid political confrontations and public demonstrations while abroad.
