Recovery of another victim in Filo Jet ferry disaster off Kyrenia

Rescue operations are ongoing following the sinking of the Filo Jet catamaran off the coast of Kyrenia, which occurred during a voyage toward Tasucu on August 30. Authorities have recovered one additional body, identified as a man aged between 55 and 60, bringing the total number of confirmed fatalities to 14. An equal number of passengers remain missing as search teams continue their efforts on a 24-hour basis.

Following the tragedy, "Prime Minister" Unal Ustel announced that the administration is exploring new methods and resources for recovery efforts, including the potential salvage of the sunken vessel. Technical experts have already conducted initial surveys at the wreck site, and Ustel is scheduled to visit Istanbul to coordinate with private firms experienced in deep-sea salvage operations. Survivors, including passenger Haki Sahin, have alleged that the vessel was taking on water shortly after departure and that the captain ignored warnings regarding weather conditions and the ship's safety status. Families of the victims continue to wait for news at the port of Kyrenia, while funerals for the deceased are being held in Turkey.
