Upgrades at Agios Antonios Primary School in Nicosia

Major infrastructure upgrades are currently underway at the Agios Antonios Primary School in Nicosia. Nikos Megalemos, President of the Nicosia School Board, confirmed that the project, which began in March 2026, aims to modernize school facilities through the construction of a new indoor gym, a multi-purpose hall, and six additional classrooms.

Six new classrooms are scheduled for completion in early October 2026. This delivery will allow students currently housed in an adjacent listed building to relocate, enabling necessary maintenance work to begin on that historic structure. While there has been a minor delay regarding the classroom completion due to the project scope being expanded after the initial start, Megalemos emphasized that the works remain on track for a final completion date of March 2027. Officials have provided assurances that the ongoing construction will not disrupt daily school operations or affect the safety and presence of students.

The project marks a significant effort to improve educational infrastructure in the region. Once the final phase is completed, the school will benefit from significantly expanded functional space, addressing both current capacity needs and the preservation of the school's heritage architecture.
