Violence against women: 10,000 cases in 5 years, 7,000 taken to court – 'Red Flag' prevention app coming – Many gaps reported in Parliament

In Cyprus, 10,000 cases of violence against women were reported over the last five years, with 7,000 cases reaching court. Minister of Justice Costas Fytiris announced a new 'Red Flag' prevention platform expected by year-end to flag repeat incidents. However, the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights highlighted significant systemic gaps, including lack of inter-agency coordination, absence of specialized risk assessment tools, and insufficient support structures for victims, such as housing and employment assistance.
