Natasa Lappa competes in the IQFOIL World Championship
Cypriot athlete Natasa Lappa has begun her participation in the IQFOIL World Championship, held in Weymouth & Portland, United Kingdom. This location holds historical significance for Cyprus, as it was the site of Pavlos Kontides' silver medal win at the 2012 London Olympics, the first Olympic medal for the nation. The competition runs from Monday, September 7, to Friday, September 11, with final races scheduled for Saturday, September 12.
The event hosts a total of 179 athletes from 39 countries, including 70 competitors in the women's category. Lappa, the sole Cypriot representative, recently finished sixth at the 2026 Taranto Mediterranean Games. She conducted part of her final preparations in Weymouth & Portland approximately six weeks ago to acclimate to the venue. Lappa is supported by Allwyn Cyprus and the 'Beyond the Medal' athletic scholarship programs from the ENA Foundation.
