Road maintenance and utility works scheduled in Cyprus
Authorities in Cyprus have announced a series of road interventions involving both motorway maintenance and utility infrastructure upgrades. The Department of Forests is conducting irrigation works on the Larnaca-Paralimni, Larnaca-Kofinou, and Larnaca-Nicosia motorways, as well as the Larnaca Airport-Rizoelia route. These operations are scheduled to run until September 30, 2026, primarily between 08:30 and 14:30 or 15:30 on weekdays. During these periods, 300-meter sections of the road shoulders will be closed, though traffic flow is not expected to be significantly affected.
Separately, the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) will implement traffic changes in Nicosia to facilitate high-voltage cable installation. A segment of Mykinon Street, between the junction with Pargas Street and Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, will be closed from 06:00 on September 8 to 05:00 on September 10, 2026. Vehicles traveling from Pargas Street toward Mykinon Street will be diverted via a mandatory left turn. Drivers are advised to follow temporary road signage and exercise caution in these areas as utility works continue through the month.
