Twenty-five unsafe products identified in EU Safety Gate system

During the week beginning August 31, 2026, the European Union's Safety Gate rapid alert system recorded 25 non-food products that pose significant health and safety risks to consumers. These items were identified across various EU member states, necessitating immediate action to protect the public.

In Cyprus, the Consumer Protection Service has distributed these items among relevant government authorities for market monitoring. Specifically, the Consumer Protection Service is handling 13 cases, the Department of Labour Inspection is addressing four, the Pharmaceutical Services are reviewing three, the Department of Environment is investigating three, and the Electromechanical Services are overseeing two. Economic operators who have supplied these goods must immediately contact the relevant authority. Consumers in possession of these products are advised to cease their use and return them to the original place of purchase.
