Cypriot Pharmaceutical Services have launched an investigation into a healthcare professional following numerous complaints regarding the administration of unapproved injectable and oral products. The professional, who operates a wellness center, allegedly marketed these substances—often sourced online—as solutions for weight loss, anti-aging, and general health improvement, despite them not being intended for human use.

On September 8, 2026, the Pharmaceutical Services formally filed a complaint with the police to address the unauthorized medical practices. Director Dr. Elena Panayiotopoulou noted that some patients reported suffering severe side effects after receiving these treatments, with one case involving a life-threatening reaction. Authorities are currently reviewing evidence from social media advertisements and testimonies to determine the scope of these illegal activities.

This incident follows a broader government warning issued on September 7 regarding the proliferation of unregulated products in gyms, beauty salons, and online platforms. The Cyprus Pharmaceutical Association has since backed the authorities, urging the public to avoid products labeled as 'natural' or 'for laboratory research only' and to source health products exclusively from licensed pharmacies. The investigation remains ongoing as police look into the origin of the substances and the extent of the professional's misconduct.
