Cyprus authorities investigate use of unapproved injectable products

Cyprus health authorities are investigating reports of healthcare professionals administering unapproved injectable and oral products to the public. The Ministry of Health’s Pharmaceutical Services issued a formal warning on September 7, 2026, noting that this phenomenon, which has become widespread abroad, is now appearing in Cyprus. The investigation focuses on a specific healthcare provider accused of using substances not approved for human consumption.

The products are reportedly marketed under various claims, including weight loss, anti-ageing, muscle development, recovery, and general health improvement. These substances often include peptides, hormonal analogues, and other pharmacologically active agents. Authorities caution that marketing items as "dietary supplements," "natural products," or "for laboratory research only" does not guarantee safety or legality.

In addition to the main investigation, officials have received reports of such products being distributed in gyms, beauty salons, hair salons, and other unauthorized locations where no medical professionals are present. The Pharmaceutical Services are currently examining the origin and administration conditions of these products. A formal complaint to the police is expected to be filed in the coming hours as the government attempts to curb the circulation of these dangerous materials.
