Cyprus National Guard to commemorate Armed Forces Day
The Cyprus National Guard will commemorate Armed Forces Day on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, with a series of events held in Nicosia to honor both current and former service members. The National Guard stated that the occasion serves to pay tribute to those who have remained faithful to their duty in defending the freedom and security of the Republic of Cyprus.
The commemoration begins at 9:30 a.m. with a church service at the Apostle Varnavas Cathedral. Later that evening, at 7:00 p.m., an official anniversary event will take place at the Cyprus State Theatre (THOK) in the presence of the country's military and political leadership. This formal event is hosted at the invitation of the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou.
