Cyprus natural gas company DEFA launches tender for regulatory support
The Natural Gas Public Company (DEFA) in Cyprus has officially launched a tender for specialized regulatory and technical consulting services to support the integration of natural gas into the national energy network. The tender was published via the electronic procurement system to bolster the company's operational readiness and expertise as it prepares for a new energy landscape.
The contract is framed as a two-year framework agreement with a maximum budget of €900,000, excluding VAT. The agreement includes an option to renew for an additional two years, providing a structured approach to the complex legal, technical, and organizational requirements involved in introducing natural gas into the Cypriot energy mix. The consultant will assist in navigating the increased obligations and processes mandated by the creation of a functional natural gas market.
This initiative represents a critical step for DEFA as it seeks to establish the necessary infrastructure and regulatory framework. By securing professional external support, the company aims to effectively manage the transition and ensure full compliance with the requirements associated with the future national gas market operations.
