Trial begins for the 2025 murder of businessman Stavros Dimosthenous in Limassol

The trial of six individuals accused of the murder of 49-year-old businessman Stavros Dimosthenous, which took place on October 17, 2025, in Limassol, began on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The defendants—two 30-year-olds, a 31-year-old, a 51-year-old, and two 28-year-olds—have entered pleas of not guilty to 15 charges, including premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit murder, arson, theft, and illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

According to investigative reports, one of the 30-year-old defendants allegedly coordinated the purchase of a motorcycle used for the perpetrators' escape after torching a van used in the ambush. Another 30-year-old defendant, currently serving a sentence in the Central Prisons, is accused of orchestrating the purchase from within. The 31-year-old is identified as the driver of the van from which shots were fired, while the 51-year-old is linked to the case through genetic material found in a stolen vehicle used to track the victim prior to the attack. The court proceedings are now underway to examine these allegations.
